Is it just an allergic reaction?

Upon reading further about eczema is sounds like an allergic reaction to something. Maybe on the skin or even something that has been eaten. Are there different types?

It is thought to be many things but I believe it is a stress issue in the body. Sometimes food can make it worse but even on a strict diet there are still issues.

Food allergies : You may feel tingling in your mouth. ... But the disease can flare up when you're around things that cause an allergic reaction. Your body's immune system overreacts to substances, called allergens, that are usually not harmful. You might get hives, itching, swelling, sneezing, and a runny nose.
